the most awaited novelties

Apple has just unveiled the official date of its next keynote: Wednesday, September 7 (7 p.m. French time), confirming the latest rumors. This year, the keynote is entitled: “Far Out” (which can be translated as “far away” in French). But what is behind this term? We will know in about ten days. The star of the keynote will of course be: the iPhone 14. The new iOS 16 update is also highly anticipated.

Overview of the novelties that could be presented by Apple during this live event.

iPhone 14: 4 new models

During its keynote, Apple should unveil 4 versions of its new model: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The “Max” versions will have a screen size of 6.7 inches (against 6.1 inches for the others).

The Pro model should take center stage, with major new features expected: an always-on mode, a 48-megapixel camera with a larger sensor, an improved A16 chip and a notchless display. Could this justify a price increase? Rumors recently indicated that the iPhone 14 could be even more expensive than the iPhone 13 (a potential increase of €100).

Note: unlike the iPhone 13, there will probably not be a “mini” model.

iOS 16: deployment of the update

At the end of its September 7 keynote, Apple should finally release iOS 16 to the general public as the update is still in beta at the moment. As a reminder, the iOS 16 update was unveiled last June during WWDC, its event dedicated to developers.

Among the many new features expected with iOS 16:

  • Advanced customization of the locked screen: colors, fonts, notifications, widgets…,
  • Deleting or editing a message after it has been sent in the Messages app,
  • Ability to extract text from a video with Live Text (with iOS 15 it was only possible to do this with a photo),
  • Easy clipping of an object on a photo with Visual Look Up,
  • Scheduling emails in Apple’s Mail app,
  • New Shared iCloud for Family…

Apple Watch Series 8: with a temperature sensor?

Apple could also introduce new Apple Watch models: the Apple Watch 8, an updated Apple Watch SE and a larger and more shock-resistant Pro model. The biggest rumor concerns the possible presence of a temperature sensor on the new Apple watch which could allow you to know if you have a fever or not. The American firm should also take advantage of the keynote to launch the watchOS 9 update.

AirPods Pro 2: the next generation

Here’s what we know so far: AirPods Pro 2 could get a new design and get support for lossless audio (higher quality sound) with Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). It is possible that the charging box will also benefit from an upgrade. Little information about this product, you will have to wait for the keynote to find out more!

The new iPad and Mac models for October?

Apple should present new iPads and Macs in October during another live event, as it usually does (excluding Covid period). Apple is rumored to be releasing 3 new Macs: a Mac Mini, a Mac Pro, and a MacBook Pro, all of which will feature Apple’s M2 chip.

The new iPadOS 16 and MacOS Ventura updates are also expected to roll out at the same time. Stay tuned!
