several psychological cells set up in emergency

The shock is immense in Lamothe-Montravel and in the surrounding villages. A 12-year-old girl died, crushed at the end of the afternoon on Monday September 12 by the school bus which brought her back from the Vélines college, eight kilometers away. The accident occurred in front of the village station, which serves as a drop-off for buses. About forty children attended the tragedy, as well as part of the girl’s family.

A first medico-psychological emergency unit was opened in the village hall of the commune the same evening. The gendarmes gathered there the children and parents who witnessed the accident. Two psychologists from Gironde and Dordogne, helped by six volunteer nurses, cared for them in shock and distress. The young girl’s family, a couple and five children, was also taken care of separately by the emergency services.

Listening cells at the Vélines college and at the Lamothe school

Tuesday morning, the Olympe College of Gouges de Vélines will reopen. The young girl was educated there, in fifth grade. National Education has planned to open a psychological listening cell on site, in order to listen to and come to the aid of the victim’s classmates, and the children who witnessed the accident and who have chosen to come to class. . Ten people are mobilizedschool psychologists, nurses and social workers from the National Education system or school doctors.

Another listening cell must also open this Tuesday morning at themunicipal public school of Lamothe-Montravel. The academic director of the Dordogne, Nathalie Malabre, will visit the children on Tuesday, September 13 in the morning.
