A few days before the end of summer, the people of the Côte d’Azur can finally sleep without being disturbed by the heat.
The temperatures have “well down during the night of Saturday 17 to Sunday 18 September”confirms Météo-France Sud-Est this Monday morning.
“For the night of Sunday 18 to Monday 19, compared to the previous night, the minimum temperatures rose in the interior and fell again on the coast.”
4°C in Tende, 13°C in Nice
The inhabitants of the hinterland took out the duvets, with 4°C in Guillaumes, 4.7°C in Tende, 7.4°C in Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée and 7.8°C in Puget- Theniers.
Minimum temperatures in the middle country were between 8°C and 10°C, for a range of 12°C to 16°C on the coast.
In detail, Météo-France recorded 9.8°C in the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin sector, 12.5°C towards Cannes, 13.3°C towards Nice, 15.1°C at Cap d’Antibes and 16.3°C in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Tropical nights record
If the freshness is back, it was conspicuous by its absence during the summer. A new record has been broken in Nice, with 104 tropical nights this year, surpassing the old record of 93 in 2018.
A night is qualified as tropical when the minimum temperature is above 20°C.
The Riviera capital also broke the record for consecutive tropical nights, with 66 days in a row. A series that ended only two weeks ago.
Heat records, dazzling drop in temperatures, Mediterranean Sea over 30°C… This summer was, to say the least, special and exceptional in France as well as in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.
