Who didn’t get their update? Now that Apple has served iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, watchOS 9.1, tvOS 16.1, the HomePod 16.1, there’s still video software! Final Cut Pro, now at 10.6.5, provides faster h.264 and HEVC export on M1/M2 Macs, improved stability when Sidecar Disconnected on an Intel Mac, and improved performance when editing with an ambient light sensor.
Companion software Compressor upgrades to version 4.6.3 with 4:2:2 HEVC 8-bit and multi-pass compatibility, as well as HDR transparency preview, among other things. Motion only improves stability and performance.
The pro video formats package comes in version 2.2.4 with support for additional codecs including Apple ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, Apple Intermediate Codec, Avid DNxHD/DNxHR decoder, AVC -Intra 50/100/200/4:4:4/LT, etc. Be careful, the download tool is badly tuned and a digital signature error can come to the souk.
iMovie on Mac and iMovie iOS are also updated with the former importing Magic Movie and Storyboard projects from iOS and iPadOS, while the latter offers four new dynamic styles and fixes bugs.
