The pizza maker was taking part in this international competition for the first time.
Jérôme Rey is a pizza maker in Prades and he recently took part in the Pizza World Cup. He explains : “The tests took place in Rome from October 4 to 6. We were 200 candidates from all over the world. I signed up for classic pizza and dessert pizza. These are the ones I offer in my job”.
For each test, four candidates competed, having a time of fifteen minutes to propose their creation. “I thought about and experimented with the recipes for the competition for two months”. Oven management, display, questions about preparation and tasting… every detail was assessed. For its first participation, the Pradéen obtained 24th place for its savory pizza (Parmesane) and 16th place for its dessert pizza (“softness of red fruits”). He concludes : “It was above all a great human adventure, very rewarding and positive. I am motivated to now participate in the next French championships for the best pizza!”.
