As every year at the same time, the prestigious competition Astronomy Photographer of the Year delivered its verdict. Discover the award-winning astronomy photographs this year, in several categories.

Every year for the past 14 years, the Royal Observatory in Greenwich has organized the ” Astronomy Photographer of the Year which is based on a jury of experts from the world of art and astronomy. Thirty five photographsphotographs astronomy were competing in 10 categories. To these 10 categories are added two special prizes. The Sir Patrick Moore Award for Best Newcomer and the Annie Maunder Award for Innovation in mattermatter of images processed using freely accessible satellite data. While waiting for the spectacular “first lights” of the James-Webb space observatory, which will be made public on Tuesday July 12, we invite you to discover the images in the running for the prestigious Astronomy Photographer of the Year. The prizes, because there are several categories, will be awarded on September 15, 2022.

We invite you to discover the 35 selected images, all taken by amateur astro-photographers, even very, very confirmed for some, divided into 10 categories. To these 10 categories are added two special prizes. The Sir Patrick Moore Award for Best Newcomer and the Annie Maunder Award for Innovation in Image Processing Using Open Access Satellite Data.

The winning photos will be announced on Thursday, September 15.
