MobileApple fishes out iPhones deprived of an iOS 16 option
The Cupertino company has released a new beta version of its major update which, among other things, brings the battery percentage display feature to more iPhone models.
Two days after deploying the major update to its mobile operating system, iOS 16, Apple has revised its copy. Owners of an iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR or iPhone 11 will finally also be entitled to the option of displaying the percentage of the battery. The Apple brand has indeed made available on Wednesday a beta version of iOS 16.1, future new version of its mobile OS, which also introduces this feature on these models.
Disappeared with the launch of the iPhone X in 2018 due to its notch, it has just returned to the status bar on the brand’s smartphones eligible for iOS 16 (iPhone 8 and newer models), while the aforementioned models were deprived of it without any explanation. For the latter, while waiting for the release in October of the final version of iOS 16.1, the only way to know the precise battery percentage is still to go through the Control Center of the iPhone. This appears when you swipe down from the top right corner of the screen.
In addition to compatibility with the Matter standard for connected home devices, the beta version of iOS 16.1 also introduces the Clean Energy function (translated Recharge with green energy in French). First available in the United States, it is supposed to reduce the carbon footprint by optimizing iPhone charging when the grid uses greener electricity. The future update will also allow real-time information (such as live scores of sports matches) to be displayed on the lock screen.
As a reminder, the latter evolved with the release of iOS 16 which followed the presentation of the new range of iPhone 14, bringing different customization options, like the dials of the Apple Watch. The latest version also allows you to modify and cancel SMS sent in iMessage within 2 minutes, as well as a stunning system for automatically clipping subjects from an image by keeping your finger pressed on the element. It is then possible to drag it into another application, to possibly share it with contacts.
