For reasons that escape us, Apple was so far not able to replace the battery of a sixth generation iPad mini: the service was well offered (it costs 109 €) but the after-sales service actually carried out the complete replacement of the device. According to an internal memo seen by MacRumors, that’s just changed: Apple repair centers are now able to replace the battery and ship the customer back their original iPad mini.
Also according to MacRumors, this new policy could be extended to other iPad models in the coming weeks or months. Some customers will see this as a disadvantage – changing the battery would get rid of any traces of shock on the chassis since it was replaced – but it is undeniable environmental progress.
